Kitchen

Go on gastronomical adventures and seek inspiration from your kitchen island itself. La Cucina Alessi by Alessandro Mendini and Gabriele Centazzo embraces it curves and is a great relief from the usually emaciated linear kitchen islands. Eschewing traditional dimensions, the sculpturesque presence of La Cucina Alessi may just push its user to start a passionate love affair with food and even master the art of cooking.

Says the designers:

“The poetry and aesthetics of the curved line… an enveloping, sinuous, wavy and dynamic meaning. A feeling of total protection: physical, because by rounding off edges, accidents are avoided; and psychological, letting you use this culinary tool in a relaxed and happy way for perfect cooking results.”

It’s not every day that we get to see a faucet that also acts as a light source. I know what you’re thinking; electricity plus water can’t be good, right? Well in this case, the Sun Lamp Faucet is a lot safer than it sounds. The faucet system incorporates 30 LED lights, which are ready to bring some light to your sink while you’re washing the dishes. The light only comes on when required as there’s a special switch for it, so don’t worry about your electricity bill either. And considering the Sun Lamp Faucet comes with LED lighting, you’re actually going to save some energy! The Sun Lamp Faucet is perfect for those kitchen spaces that could use another light source, not to mention that its overall design is more than pleasing to the eye and would fit with most modern kitchens out there.

The Mint dining furniture collection was designed by Monica Graffeo for Arflex Furniture. In the chair and barstool she has captured the shape of a circle and built it into an attractive design. The collection of circles entices the onlooker to evaluate this simple, but effective design and invite them in to take a seat. When I first saw this I thought about George Nelson’s famous Marshmallow sofa chair and how he made the circle famous in his midcentury modern classic.

Your kitchen could certainly use the Cut & Paste cutting board and special plate in the images below, especially if you’re dealing with a tiny kitchen and always struggling for more space when preparing your next meal. The Cut & Paste is a solid maple cutting board that fits right inside a special porcelain plate. The Cut & Paste comes in various sizes and will certainly do the job expected of it, which is assisting with, well, cutting edible stuff and then storing it accordingly for later use.
