Named simply “Oval Table”, this tempered glass and steel dining table from Moroso is adorned with the naturalistic patterns that represent designer Tord Boontje dedication of the “image-making reality of enchanted fantasy”. Dutch born Boontje started Studio Tord Boontje in 1996 with a belief that “modernism does not mean minimalism, that contemporary does not forsake tradition, and that technology does not abandon people and senses”.

Designer Jason Phillips specializes in visually captivating furniture and here is his “Al Dente” dining table and chairs that are still in the conceptual stage but all great ideas make to reality eventually. Phillips was inspired as the name may indicate by “uncooked strand of spaghetti”.

The Mint dining furniture collection was designed by Monica Graffeo for Arflex Furniture. In the chair and barstool she has captured the shape of a circle and built it into an attractive design. The collection of circles entices the onlooker to evaluate this simple, but effective design and invite them in to take a seat. When I first saw this I thought about George Nelson’s famous Marshmallow sofa chair and how he made the circle famous in his midcentury modern classic.

Want to feel like number one and be able to prove it. The “Numbers” all purpose dining chair from designer Luigi Billiani of Billiani 1911 of Italy makes a fun statement even if the occupants of the chair may take it a serious rating.
